SEASON 2017 is going to be the biggest yet.

There will be at least three or four extremely good Premier Division teams that won’t even get to play finals footy in 2017. We expect the division to be that good.

From five feature Sunday games to a huge slate of Round 1 head-to-heads, we’re expecting Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division to have it all in Season 2017.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sunday Games: CLICK HERE to take a look at the five feature Sunday games taking place over the course of Season 2017. All 10 clubs will be featured in these showcase games.
  • Round 1: All five games are huge. Aberfeldie Greenvale is always a marquee match-up; local rivals West Coburg Pascoe Vale face off at City Oval (TBC), Strathmore Maribyrnong Park will feature some of the bigger recruits of this off-season; Craigeburn’s first game back in Premier since 2012 will be at home to Avondale Heights; and for obvious reasons, Essendon Doutta Stars Keilor is a can’t-miss Sunday clash.
  • Round 3: This is essentially a split round with Strathmore hosting Keilor on Good Friday (April 14). The following week, Aberfeldie will host Avondale Heights on ANZAC Day (Tuesday April 25).

OTHER NOTABLE GAMES

  • Round 2: Keilor will unfurl its 2016 Premiership Flag in the GRAND FINAL rematch against Aberfeldie at Joe Brown Oval on April 8.
  • Round 2: Also on this day we’ll see Maribyrnong Park host West Coburg. There may be some extra spice in this one with some interesting player movements between the two so far this off-season.
  • Round 3: Essendon Doutta Stars Craigieburn will meet again for the first time since the memroable 2015 Essendon Ford Division 1 GRAND FINAL. The two clubs established an enduring rivalry that year in the EDFL’s second tier.

OTHER NOTES

  • No games have been scheduled for the weekend of May 13 (between Rounds 5 & 6). This weekend will see the EDFL go head-to-head with the Eastern Football League in the AFL Victoria Community Championships.
  • There will be no Premier Division footy during the Queen’s Birthday Weekend (June 10).
  • Premier Division will another break on the weekend between Rounds 12 & 13 (July 15).
  • Venues for West Coburg (Coburg City Oval) & Craigeburn (Highgate) home games will be confirmed after the release of the 2017 VFL & TAC Cup fixtures.
  • Finals will begin on Saturday September 2 and the Grand Final will be on Saturday, September 16 at Windy Hill.
